Malteser International Americas’ work strives to bring hope and support to the most vulnerable throughout the Americas. Our programs faithfully adhere to core humanitarian principles and are designed with the view that sustainability, inclusivity, and localization are the foundation for successful programming. We work with partners and donors – local NGOs, state agencies, and multilateral organizations – to maximize our impact during both emergencies projects as well as long-term development and rehabilitation projects.

Emergency Response

Extreme natural disasters and armed conflict leave millions of people around the world in critical situations requiring immediate assistance. We offer emergency medical aid, expertise in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), food distribution and other essential survival materials. 

Our response to emergencies is done in consultation with local populations, including local organizations, leaders, and authorities, to learn what their needs are, and to ensure that they are active participants in rebuilding their communities.
