A promise made good in Haiti
Making good on his commitment to see first-hand the people we are helping in the Americas, Tom Wessels, new President of Malteser International Americas, visited Haiti in early January.
With his own eyes he saw the devastation that decades of environmental disasters, poverty, and malnourishment has on a country, and the inadequate resources children and families live with each and every day. But, he also discovered the restored hope and dignity, and the resiliency of children and families.
During his visit to our projects, among his stops were the slum of Cite Soleil to visit newly built school latrines, Village des Rapatriés where we've started a new mangrove reforestation project, and a community garden in Tabarre, bursting with nutritious vegetables and fruits.
