After Ida: Supporting Relief Efforts in Louisiana
Category 4 Hurricane Ida made landfall in Louisiana this past Sunday, causing four deaths so far, leaving nearly a million people without power, and causing major infrastructure damage in its wake. Many areas are still difficult to reach because of the devastation, and thus, the full extent of the damage will take days to fully assess.
Malteser International Americas will be supporting relief efforts through our friends and partners in the area, hoping to help the most vulnerable in this critical time. Since Hurricane Katrina 16 years ago, Malteser International has supported relief efforts by providing critical funding of more than $750,000, provision of safe drinking water, supported rebuilding homes, infrastructure, and schools.
The people of Louisiana will need our thoughts, prayers, and support in the coming months as they begin their road to recovery.
