The kindness of strangers from around the world help Mexico’s elderly rebuild from September’s earthquake
Thanks to the kindness of strangers at DB Schenker Global Headquarters in Essen, Germany, halfway around the world from where September's Mexico earthquake struck, an elderly home will be receiving much needed repairs.
The company-wide initiative "Pause for a Cause" raised nearly $3000 that will towards the repair of infrastructure damages to Casa San Juan, a home operated by the Order of Malta Mexican Association, for 75 older men and women between the ages of 85 and 98, located in Xochimilco, Mexico. The damages were quite substantial and very visible -- the surrounding wall, entry area, restrooms, therapy room, and columns were affected.
Repairs will be overseen by the Mexican Association of the Order of Malta and completed as soon as possible to ensure that the elderly residents have a safe home to return to by Christmas.
