Monitoring Tropical Storm Barry and rising floodwaters
Tropical Storm Barry is expected to make landfall Saturday bringing with it torrential rain to already flooded regions of the Gulf Coast. The slow-moving storm is already to blame for flash flooding in parts of New Orleans. Heavy rains may also inundate Mississippi and Texas, where rivers are already swollen to capacity. Storm surges and floods that occur as a result of storms are life-threatening and people living along coastlines and low-lying regions should take every precaution to evacuate. We are ready to support our partners on the ground if needed.
According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm could become a Category 1 Hurricane by late Friday. We urge all those living in the potentially affected regions to take preparedness measures immediately. Download our Hurricane Preparedness Tips now.
