MI Americas Welcomes New Board Member: John F. X. Reilly, KM
MI Americas is thrilled to welcome a new member to our Board of Directors, John F. X. Reilly, KM. As of April 1st, Reilly joins us from the Order of Malta Federal Association, replacing former MI Americas President and Board Member, Maj. Gen. Tom Wessels, KM, who will remain on the Board as Director Emeritus.
Born in Yeadon, Pennsylvania, Reilly, an attorney, holds a Bachelor’s degree from Drexel University and a J.D. from Temple University School of Law.
Reilly’s legal practice is concentrated in appellate litigation, local government, public school, and special education law. Since 2006, Reilly holds the position of Solicitor for the Ridley School District in Folsom, Pa. From 1991-2020, he was a trial and appellate prosecutor in Pennsylvania and federal courts as Deputy District Attorney for the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office in Media, Pa. From 1996 to 2007, Reilly was an Adjunct Associate Professor at Drexel University’s Department of History and Politics.
Currently, Reilly is Vice President of the Delaware County Vocational-Technical School Authority, a position he’s held since 1995.
From 1998 to 2003, he was a Board Member of the Delaware County Intermediate Unit Board of Directors, and Vice President and Board Member, Ridley School District, Board of School Directors from 1992 to 2006.
Since 2020, he has served on the Finance Council of Our Lady of Peace in Milmont Park, PA, where he was previously on the Pastoral Council from 2006 to 2008, and from 2014 to 2016.
In 2002, he was a member of the Tenth Synod of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Invested in the Order of Malta in 2002, Reilly has served on the Lourdes Pilgrimage every year from 2010 to 2019, and has participated in many programs and task forces within the Federal Association (New Orleans Home Repair Program 2006-16; Federal Assoc. New Orleans Task Force, 2009-2014; Lafayette Home Repair Program 2017-22.)
In 2010, he was awarded the Malteser International Service Medal with Katrina Bar. In 2019, he received the Cross of the Order Pro Merito Melitensi.
“I worked in conjunction with MI after Hurricane Katrina in the New Orleans rebuilding program from 2006-10. I’m looking forward to serving on the MIA board and helping with its important work,” Reilly said.
