Malteser International is implementing public health campaigns on COVID-19 in the Colombian border cities Riohacha and Maicao, La Guajira, targeted at the Venezuelan refugee and migrant population.

With the support of UNHCR, our medical team is providing educational workshops, hand-washing demonstrations and is working with local authorities to ensure the strengthen the coordination and reach of the the region’s COVID-19 response.

One of our priorities is ensuring that reliable information about COVID-19, as well as preventive measures, reach vulnerable communities.

Malteser International is a partner of UNHCR in Colombia and provides medical screenings and examinations to refugees and migrants at the Center for Integrated Assistance in Maicao, as well as other locations throughout the region. As of April 16th, 2020, Colombia recorded 3,105 cases and 131 fatalities due to COVID-19.
